The game takes place long after civilization has been destroyed, with humans emerging from underground to form the Alliance of Free Cities and the Civil Corps. The Alliance is at war with the empire of Duvos. The player character, by default named Marco (male) or Linda (female), inherits their father's workshop in Portia after he goes traveling. The player is greeted by Presley, a guild commissioner, and begins constructing a bridge to Amber Island, encountering Bandirats, bandits Tuss and Huss, and Panbats. Mayor Gale plans transportation called Dee Dees, and the player builds them. After fixing a pipe, the player fights the Rat King and discovers a robot chef named Ack from an ancient civilization. Later, the player helps rescue builders from a cave-in caused by a rogue robot called Rock-on. An investor named Musa arrives, and agent Mali investigates ancient technology. The player captures Tuss and Huss, but the real thief, the Rogue Knight, escapes. The player works with builders and agents Ursula Everglade, Ryder, and Ten to find the All Source, but they are betrayed by these agents, who are pirates called the Sky Sharks. The Rogue Knight activates the All Source, which attacks the town. The player defeats it but is overpowered by the Rogue Knight, until Django, Toby's uncle, reveals himself as the Storm Knight and forces the Rogue Knight to flee. The All Source, named Wendy, is reprogrammed. The Sky Sharks and Rogue Knight are working for Duvos. The player rebuilds the town, marries a bachelor or bachelorette, and their father visits, giving them the Robopig Rider before leaving again.
